Poinsettia dress and Tie

I stayed up late last night to finish Gwyneth's Christmas dress and Connor's tie.  I love how they turned out -- now if only I can get a decent photo of them in it.  Perhaps I ask too much.

The dress is made using the pattern New Look 6648, view C.  The main dress fabric is from Robert Kaufman.  I used an invisible zipper for the back which I love!  The dress is fully lined.  I really like the final product.

I love the little gathered bit of the sash at the sides.

I also made a little simple headband using this pattern, but with a 3/8" seam allowance.

The tie is a pattern I've been working on for quite some time.  It's a skinnier, longer version that what I've seen out there.  After several attempts, I like how it looks now.

I used the brown polka dot fabric for the detailed ends of the tie on the back side.

  1. Hello!
What a beautiful Christmas dress. Great work. Actually I made something similar from the Cottage House's tutorial. When I saw yours, I was thinking, how similar! You can see the dress here

  2. That is a beautiful dress. I love how the tie matches (even on the inside).

  4. Gorgeous Christmas dress!I will have to check out that pattern for my 2yo.

They will look soooo cute in matching dress and tie - now if only I had thought of that - a tie would be much easier to make for my 5yr old, but alas I still have his Christmas shirt to pull together.

  5. Beautiful - that fabric is gorgeous! I ought to make some more clothes. The kids wearing uniforms to school has made me lazy...
