About Me

Hi! I'm Vanessa and welcome to my blog.  I'm glad you stopped by.  I love to sew, design, knit and paint.  I'm always working on at least 5 projects and I've always got a long list of ideas that are just waiting to be created.  (Don't we all??)

I'm lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom to two wonderful kids.  Connor is 6 and Gwyneth is 4.  They keep me busy and also inspire me!  Much of what I create is for them or inspired by them.  I also have a wonderful, supportive husband who doesn't mind if things are a little messy while the creative juices are flowing!  (Thanks hunny!)

I love hand-made things.  I love to make them and get them!  I have a genuine appreciation for the work involved and the love that goes into what you make.  Our house is filled with paintings we've made (the kids too) and beautiful photographs of the places we've been together.  I spend much of my day in our home and I love to make things for it and give it a very personal touch.

My formal education is in Chemistry, yup, I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota.  My specialty is (or rather was) calculating partition functions for small atom systems using Feynman Path integral methods and evaluating those integrals by using Monte Carlo sampling.

So how did I end up here????

Well, I've always been sewing, crafting and painting.  My mother taught me how to sew and embroider when I was very young.  My grandmother taught me how to crochet and knit also at a young age (although I've only kept up with the knitting).  I guess I"ve been doing it ever since, just sometimes it's in the background.  Now it's front and center in my life and I"m loving it!

Thanks for stopping by and I'd love to hear from you!
